Essential Oils for the Whole family

Essential oils are very potent medicines. Did you know that they are essentially the plant’s immune system? Each drop of oil contains a complex mixture of chemical constituents, and the molecular structure means that every cell of our bodies can be affected within 20 minutes or less - even just from smelling them. Wowza! Impressive!


I'd LOVE to have the opportunity to introduce you to an array of highest-quality doTerra oils and how to use them for improved immunity, mood elevation, easier digestion, to ward off viruses, bacteria, and infections of all sorts, plus the benefits they contribute to overall health too!  These FREE classes will give you the basics on how, where, and when to use the oils safely for your whole family, and I know you will be as impressed by the powers of these oils as I have been. Parents especially welcome, as EOs are safe for babies and children and a smart and pleasurable alternative to so many mainstream recommendations.

Let’s Get Cooking: The New Basics

Monday June 17th (full) ~OR~ Tuesday July 9th  6:30-9:30pm $65-80

This is a new class this year at The Sage Table, created after many requests from students for a class for their beginning cook friends and family, and so far it’s been a hit. The evening will be filled with simple, easy, healthful preparations, and of course you will leave with a printed handout detailing all you have learned, with instructions for some simple but impressive dishes.


With a focus on health, we will cover a lot, and you will walk away with new ideas for your grocery list as well as simple recipes and techniques that you can begin trying out next time you step into the kitchen wondering what to cook. Techniques for quick-cooking, delicious veggies, properly soaking and easily cooking grains and legumes to use as the basis for salads, the yummiest healthy fats and how to use them wisely. This class will cover some basics of how to incorporate a wide variety of particularly nutrient-dense foods and "good" fats into your diet on a daily basis for optimal, radiant health. Salad making, simple soups and curries, plus more to be determined ;)

Adventures in Vita-Mixing

Oh, Vita-Mix, how I love you so! Do you adore yours as well, but don’t know quite what to do with it yet? Perhaps you haven’t reached the adoration stage and are still wondering what to make of this big machine that’s taken up residence on your countertop and emptied your bank account of a significant chunk? Or you haven’t made it that far yet, but are projecting into the future of your romance with dear Vitamix?? Ok, or a Blendtec, they do the same thing, so no matter! ;)


Come to this class and be illuminated about all the mega-nutritious possibilities that can be had with this most wondrous of kitchen machines. Five years of experience with my beloved Vita-Mix and countless ideas assure that I will have PLENTY to share in this class. Dressings, milks, soups, smoothies, juices, and more will be covered through the creation of a plethora of delicious treats throughout the evening, of course with many tastes along the way! You will leave brimming with ideas and inspiration so you too can whizz your wonder blender on a daily basis!

Classes are held in the kitchen of my beautiful home in a sprawling, modern Craftsman in North Oakland. It’s a 15 minute walk from the Rockridge Bart station and only a few minutes from the 51st/MLK exit off Highway 24. Weekday classes are usually from 6:30 to 9:30pm and weekend times vary as noted.


Each class is chock-full of cooking instructions, specific methods and tips and includes a comprehensive handout with recipes and lots of other information and resources. The focus is always on how to make delicious food that is nourishing and nutritious too.


Classes all feature a relaxed and comfortable meal with the group after we finish cooking, with abundant food and wine to compliment the meal. This part of the class is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the other students and feel the sweet community vibe that makes classes with The Sage Table so special.


Cooking is done with the highest quality ingredients possible, adhering to the idea of SOUL food: Seasonal, Organic, Unrefined and Local. As much as possible is purchased at local farmer’s markets in the East Bay. Classes are vegetarian unless meat is featured explicitly.
